How Much Must You Earn to Qualify for Sassa Grant

SASSA is supporting underprivileged South African citizens financially for many years but only those citizens will get the grant who fulfill the eligibility criteria. So if you want to know how much you must earn to qualify for an SASSA grant then read this article.

Do I Qualify for SASSA Grant?

All SASSA grants have qualifying criteria this is why it is necessary to read the eligibility criteria of any grant before applying. One of the most important qualifying criteria for these grants is the income of the applicant. So today we will explore what income makes a person eligible for the grant.

SASSA Grants and Income Thresholds

How Much Must You Earn to Qualify for Sassa Grant

To receive the grant payments all applicants should qualify for the eligibility criteria set by SASSA. Any applicant who fails to fulfill the criteria will have their application rejected.

Once my SASSA application got rejected because of my income. So I thought to share the applicant’s income eligibility for all the SASSA grants in one guide so you don’t suffer like me.

As every grant has different income eligibility criteria so it’s hard to remember all of them, isn’t it? But not anymore just read the points below and know what is the maximum income threshold for each SASSA grant.

Applicant’s Income Eligibility for SASSA Grants

  • If you are applying for an SRD grant then your monthly income should not be above R624.
  • For Child Support grant, the monthly income of the primary caregiver (single and married) should not be earning more than R5 000 and R10 000 respectively.
  • Anyone interested in applying for Care Dependency grant like me should keep in mind that you will receive the grant only if your monthly income is not more than R20 800 if the applicant is single and R41 600 if married.
  • Any citizen who is earning less than R8 070 per month and R96 840 per year is eligible for a Disability grant if single. For married applicants, the income eligibility for the same grant is R16 140 per month and R193 680 per year.
  • For Older Person’s grant, Grant-in-aid, and War Veterans grant single applicants, must not be earning more than R8 070 per month and R16 140 per month if married.
  • However, there is no income threshold for a Foster Child grant.

Important Note:

Please note apart from the income SASSA also verifies the assets of the applicants to ensure the transparency and credibility of the grants. The goal of SASSA is to provide financial relief to the maximum number of citizens by following set rules and sticking to the eligibility criteria. Although all South African citizens can apply for any grant, only those who qualify for the eligibility criteria will receive the grant payment.

Many citizens apply for the SASSA grants but they never receive the grant payment, this is because they fail to qualify for the SASSA grant. In many cases, the applications are rejected because they are earning more than the maximum income set by the government for SASSA grants. All those who need help regarding how much you must earn to qualify for the SASSA grant can take help from our guide.

We have mentioned maximum income values in this guide so if you want to qualify for an SASSA grant make sure you fulfill the income eligibility criteria. Thank you.
